Could not have said it better myself. Christmas is supposed to be a time
where family members spend time with one another and love
unconditionally… but alas, the global retail marketing machine has
managed to convince the masses that love is measured in dollars and cents
(or yen or whatever the currency in your country) and all the plastic
garbage they try to cram down our throats rather than spending time with
the people you care about most.
It’s up to people like us to lead a paradigm shift… first in our own
circle of family and friends, and then to more and more people.
Although it’s been over 30 years since I lived in Tokyo, I do recall that
Christmas was **NOT** so a big deal back then and was safely able to ignore
it. However, the Japanese businesses have increasingly looked at Western
holidays to create sales–this despite being a Buddhist Shintoist country.
So I agree, why not give a meaningful give–like subscribing to the Corbett
Report.
When automation and 3d printing starts to dominate manufacturing, the 3rd
world countries will be the first to feel it and worse in some respects.
China’s economy will collapse within the next 10-15yrs. Their boom is
already over and in steep decline for the past 2 yrs. That’s why I believe
they are saber rattling to help prop up their economy with military
spending. Cheap 3d printing technology is the next home tech to empower the
individual. That will be the only way to save our economy. Plus we the
people win because we become more empowered and free than ever.

Regarding job creation: Whenever I hear of a government boasting about it’s
job creation I always assume they’re talking about minimum wage type jobs.
You can hardly live off minimum wage, certainly not on your own.

course, these talking heads do NOT consider unemployment as an economic
